Weightless

Sketched on a breezy day, Weightless captures the timeless grace and motion of a gull midair. I painted this piece after watching a lively flock tussle over a bagel –– a simple, joyful moment that had me cracking up as I was reminded of the humour that can be found in everyday nature, not just the beauty. The soft, airy washes of watercolour give this bird a sense of freedom and lightness, like wind over waves.
