Skyward

Painted in watercolour, this blue jay mid-flight captures a fleeting moment of brightness – a flash of vibrant blue moving through the stillness of the woods.

There are several blue jays around the property, and though I see them often, it never stops feeling like a little thrill when their colour cuts through the green. Their boldness, their beauty, their movement – it all reminds me to look up and pay attention.
